in summary...

wow this month has been crazy.  God is definitely making some adjustments in our hearts and in our lives. which is exactly what we asked for this year - renewed purpose and direction.  I believe my exact quote was "No absent-mindedly wandering around for us!".

so we're still working on those goals.  we are all definitely eating much more wholesome foods.  I told B he has eaten more vegetables in the past month than in the decade before that. :)  he agreed.  we have tightened our budget, using better posture, being more active, and if you've heard the poo in the tub stories, you know we are still cleaning our bathtub regularly.  (I think that happened twice in the past 3 weeks.  not cool.)

as for our little guy has been sick and his top two front teeth are coming in AND we've starting throwing fits.  all at once this has been quite an adventure.  (a stressful adventure!)  every day he teaches us more about what it means to love selflessly and be patient.
thankfully, we were a little more like ourselves today so that was nice.

we have transitioned nicely to the sippy cup with milk.  which was a bit of a surprise since he cried every time the bottle was empty. :)  E is still growing and growing at over 25 lbs. and 31 inches and walking like a champ.  he LOVES being outside - at the park, in the swing, on a walk, playing in dirt, whatever.

so here's to March and what it has in store. :)

crazy!

Wow!  January flew by!  It has been a crazy month!

From appendicitis to viruses all around - we haven't quite gotten as much done as we had hoped. :)   We have cleaned through about 90% of the house and gotten rid of a lot.  (Throwing away things is fun!)  We even had a little garage sale with some friends and sold a few of our junk awesome stuff.  Our other big goals are still in the works - we'll keep you updated.  ;)  The little ones have been slightly easier to implement even while everyone is sick so I have been wearing my retainer, cleaning the tub, hitting the snooze less, etc.  It might be baby steps but its still progress!

Speaking of baby steps- our little man is officially walking!  He has refused to crawl for the past two days.  Its very exciting, but a little sad at the same time.  He is growing up so fast.  We'll post a video soon.

a new year

Dear 2010,

We welcome you with open arms and are excited to see what God has in store!  Our theme for you is DISCIPLINE.  We desire that this will come in many forms, and we know it will require some serious work and commitment, so get ready to see some change.  In no particular order, here are some things that you can expect  to see in our little corner of the world.

~from a Martha-type organization overhaul of all closets and drawers, and a general getting rid of things we don't use.

We already got rid of the "junk drawer"!

~to eating more wholesome foods...

(Have you seen this movie??? I know its a book - but I'm not sure I could have stomached a whole book.  WOW.)

~to the inevitable workout goal

~to a stronger, more unceasing prayer life.  taking the time to listen for His voice throughout each day

*disclaimer: I know this is not really God in this picture

~to teaching, loving our son and treasuring each moment with him and each other

~to taking more time to rest (rather than just veg)
~actively investing in precious relationships with those we love and those God has called us to love
~saving more money
~and making sure we schedule a vacation (or two).

Of course I could go on and on. There are other things like flossing more, hitting the snooze button less often, wearing my retainer, blogging consistently, working on better posture, cleaning the bathtub more, etc.  But I think you get the point.  We are determined to work on these goals and live this year with purpose.  No absent-mindedly wandering around for us, mister.   Be on the lookout.

Resolved,
the p's
