lake, egg hunt, goats, etc.

Just a quick picture update!  A few weeks ago, we went up to B's family's lakehouse to visit with everyone.  

I loved riding on Grandpa Victor's golf cart.  

and wanted to jump in the lake but it was too cold!

Dad is so silly.  

Then Meemaw came to by to visit

and read me a book

Then mom and Nana took me to an Easter egg hunt

and I loved it!

I was needing some new things to try and open with my teeth.

and I got to pet a goat!  :)

funny things

I want to remember all the funny little things E is doing right now, so I am writing them down here.  Hope you enjoy them too. :)  

He laughs every time I print something on the printer.  

He loves it when you scare him.  

He finally started clapping and is kind of blowing his nose - mostly on things that aren't kleenex.  

He is stretching to reach onto tables and counters to see what he can grab ahold of.  

When I lay on the floor he comes and sits on me and laughs.  

He is starting to recognize certain phrases in his books.  

He likes watching older kids and seeing what they do.

He thinks its funny when dogs bark at him.

and of course still LOVES all things outside.  

and just to be completely honest - there are unfunny things we are learning as well - like fit throwing, but we're focusing on the good!

rodeo!

This year I decided to venture out to the rodeo twice.  It is always fun to go once you get through all of the traffic and actually get there.  The first night was a girls night with Lady Antebellum.

Sadly, I only have one picture, but we had a lot of fun and even tried a fried snickers! It was pretty good, but I think the oreos are better, or maybe just a good old fashioned funnel cake.  (Of course these are things we allow ourselves to eat once a year at the rodeo :) )

Then, a few days later we went again to see Gary Allan with my friend N and B's brother V.  Some friends got us into the club level and it was very nice.  The bathrooms are SO much nicer and even the nachos look better.

Then we went down to our seats which were in prime location for the mutton bustin'!  Those kids are tough!  Maybe E will try it in a couple of years.  :)

One of Gary Allan's guitarists wore a kilt since it was St. Patty's day, and Gary himself was surprisingly not very country looking.

V would like to warn everyone - do NOT buy a funnel cake inside the rodeo stadium.  The nice lady will tell you she's making one 'fresh' for you, but it doesn't make a difference - its still disgusting.  Just wait patiently until you're on your way out and get an actual fresh one.  Its worth the wait.

little fireman

E is getting two more top teeth in!  He's trying to climb on everything, turning door handles, and reaching for things off the counter.  He points at everything and says "eeeh!" and still loves carrying things around the house.  Now we try to have two things in each hand at once.  Still mostly just saying dada, uh-oh, with the occasional mama, we think we've heard dog a couple of times, and of course the gibberish that sounds somewhat like Chinese.  :)

Last week we went to see Daddy at the fire station and took some pictures for fun.  here is our cute little man.

first real haircut

well, it was about that time.  E's hair was looking a little shaggy.  long on the top and around the ears and curling in the back.  B wouldn't stand for taking him to a salon or some fancy place.  so last week we went to a 50 year old barber shop near our house.  it definitely wasn't the cleanest joint in town, (as you can see by the clutter collection of items on the counter), but it had history!  and E got his first manly haircut.

"Dad, what is this place?"  

He was a little wiggly when the trimmer was buzzing in his ear, but did really good!  

Not the best picture of us, but you can see the final product.  He was completely done with being still at this point.  :)  (and I'm not really sure what's up with the fake bricks in the background...)

reality check

So, our little man seems to be back to normal.  We have enjoyed his laughter, watched him wander around the house and play with his toys again, and gotten to unload the dishwasher while he naps.

Then, a little reality check.  Just a little reminder that kids are still a lot of work even when they are generally in a good mood.  A small challenge to make sure I don't get too spoiled.  

Today I walked into his room as he woke up from his nap to find him smiling and standing in his crib waiting for me to pick him up.  Then I looked down.  His sheet was wet.  Hmmm, that's weird.  I began to piece the clues together.  There was a diaper laying in the corner of the crib.  And then I saw the poop.  on. his. sheets.  disgusting.

Of course this all happens when B is at work.  lucky. :)  Lesson learned.  My child can now remove his own diaper.  yikes.

happy birthday dad!

Today is my dad's birthday - (he's the one on the left).  And no that's not E in a dress.  :)  Thanks for always teaching me how to be dependable, giving, patient, and hard-working.
