that makes no sense...

As usual E is keeping us all laughing.  I can only imagine how it will be when they can both talk.  :)

He likes to state facts about things and add words/phrases like "actually", "probably", and "that makes no sense"

(when the UPS truck stops outside our house)
"hey!  It's that guy that brings us stuff!"...  (usually followed by) "aw!  It's just diapers again!"

(after seeing S spit some food out on the floor)
"I'm a big boy now.  I swallow my throw up.  It's tasty."

(before our road trip vacation)
"I think this is a lot of things for a little vacation."

(as he's racing around the house by himself)
"yay!  I'm winniiiiiiiing!"

Me: hey, what did you get me for my birthday?
E: um...  (long pause)...  I think the man that brings us stuff in the brown truck is bringing your present.

(at the store trying to talk me into buying him something)
"I think Daddy wants me to have this new pirate ship.  He really likes pirate ships.  Just like he likes football."

vacation!

We took our first family vacation last month (aka road trip across Texas) and had a blast.  E was counting down the days.

Stop #1: Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine (E is still talking about it).
Nana and Pops went with us, and Aunt Hannah, Uncle Josh, and Jack got to join us for a day to play in the water. We didn't take very many pictures in the water, but E and S both loved it.  E even snuck on a few of the big slides "standing on tippy toes" with his dad.

When we weren't swimming we played arcade games, went to story time, and wrestled in the hallway.

then we went to the biggest Bass Pro Shop ever

and my friend Celani suggested the aquarium so we went to check that out and it was pretty cool.  (thanks Celani!)

S was not a fan of the see-through flooring.  He freaked out.

E refusing to take a decent picture

Stop #2: Dinosaur Valley State Park
Definitely a favorite for our 3 year old who loves all things dinosaurs.  There are fossilized dinosaur footprints you can see if the water isn't too high.

 Look there's one over there.

 oops!  I got wet!

 he was so excited.

sidenote to manufacturers of dinosaur toys: if you make a dinosaur toy please make sure it has the appropriate coloring/number of fingers/feathers or lack thereof.  otherwise there is no convincing my son that it is the dinosaur you say it is. do your homework, people.

Stop #3: The ranch (where my aunt, uncle, and grandma live)
E decided to have fun with the camera on my phone and took a couple dozen pictures...

"hey what are you doing?  give me that."
"I'm taking pictures, Momma."

It was a little cold at the ranch that day.  We played outside, went for rides/walks, and relaxed.

oh how he loves to pick on his little brother.

trick or treat!

This year E was super into trick or treating.  He decided he wanted to be a fireman, which was awesome, because we already had this awesome fireman outfit from his grandma and grandpa.  A few times he tried to change his mind and say he wanted to be a pirate, but we told him it was too late. :)  Then we tried to think of something S could be to go with it.  We thought of fire hydrant, but then he might hate us for that one later.  So my mom had the idea of him being a dalmatian puppy (or fire puppy as E called him).  This idea was also perfect because we already had the costume from when E was little.  It was a tight squeeze, but we made it work!  S was sick so we just went around our neighborhood for a bit and he tolerated it.  E had a blast.

E impatiently waiting for us all to be ready.  (with his dinosaur bucket)

 cute, cute boys.

 "get back here, fire puppy!"

cuteness

Had some cute pictures taken of the boys and thought I'd share a few!

E: is hilarious right now.  (more funny quotes to come soon...) he is learning so much every day and I take little credit.  If we say something he doesn't think is right, he says "actually, it's... ".  His newest obsession is all things dinosaurs.  We watch documentaries and of course Dinosaur Train, go to museums, read books about them, and create all kinds of dinosaur valleys/jungles/cities.  He knows most of their names, what they eat, what their skills are. :)  His is a little man already!  Today we went to get some groceries, and he walked through the store for the first time, and even wanted to carry one of our reusable bags, and put some things in it to carry around.  (don't get me wrong - sometimes he still wants to be a baby. :)

S: is like fire and ice.  he can be super sweet and cuddly, and even gentle with the dogs.  the next minute he is swatting at everyone and throwing himself on the floor.  someday I'll tell his friends/girlfriend humiliating stories about how he would throw a fit if his snack was not the right temperature/ handed to him correctly / wasn't his idea, etc. :)  He LOVES his lion/lovie.  He loves playing with balls and is pretty good at throwing things.  ;)  He loves going places and being outside.  If the door is open, he is out it and heading down the sidewalk and down the street.  His new words are ball, banana, choo choo, cheese.  If there is loud music playing, this kid is dancing.
* there are less pictures of him, because he wouldn't stay still for the camera!*

Together they are either hilarious, or big trouble.  :)
We love these boys and I'm so thankful to be their mom.

summer recap

Apparently my camera was on a hiatus this summer too, because I did not take a lot of pictures...   But, here are a few funny ones to see some of what we did this summer.

we went to the zoo with friends!

 gave friends a ride...

raced around the house at Nana Camp

slept with our new giant bear from Uncle L & Aunt C

E took his first swim lessons right down the street from us.

he was always a little over-enthusiastic, but he did pretty well. :)

one day E decided that he wanted to wear his winter coat and watch a movie with ALL of his stuffed animals.

S spent a lot of time sitting in chairs (and just anything he can do by himself).

then discovered he could sit ON the table

also spent a lot of time opening/closing cabinets and drawers and scavenging for snacks.

then E wanted to jump on our bed with all of his tools in his pockets.  :)

E feeding S one of his last bottles.  what a good brother!

and we always love reading books!  and doing anything with daddy.

mostly it is just a lot of silliness around here. :)
